On Point
I thought that we were heading to the park.
We were heading in that direction, mum and I both bundled in the car driving through the snow this morning. But once we got close, she drove off in a different direction. I haven’t been this way before, and slightly perplexed, I stuck my nose out of the cracked window.
Then we parked, and walked a little ways down a new street. I was interested of course, but something smelled… different. Doggish, musky, with a whiff of cat. What could it be?
It could be that I had my first visit to my new vet at Point Breeze Veterinary Clinic. I was interested, but shy, even when the nice vet tech tried to hand me a bone with peanut butter on it (which I did take from mum, of course). They wanted to weigh me, oh the indignity, in front of a room full of pretty girls. 69 strapping pounds of Airedale hunk, I am. Well on track to be a big boy like Bogart was.
While I didn’t enjoy the shots (THAT was a surprise), I have to say that I did like my doctor. I let her check my teeth and my belly, and even finally took a peanut-butter-encrusted treat from her hand. She was nice. She gave mum a lot of advice on my future health care. She thought I was cute. And she was Bogart’s doctor too, so I trust her big-time. All is good.
Because I was a little nervous at the beginning, I got to wear this spiffy scarf. Apparently sprayed with some pheromones to chill me out. And make me look rakishly handsome.
Love,
Otto Fizz
